TicketQR is an app that allows users to easily and cashlessly use public transportation such as trains and buses with their smartphones. As part of the Ueda City Public Transportation Cashless Promotion Project implemented by Ueda Bus Company starting from October 1, 2020, the service has been expanded to major routes operated by Ueda Bus Company, Ueda Electric Railway Company (Bessho Line), Chikuma Bus Company, and Toshin Kanko Bus Company, conducting a cashless experiment using QR code payments in Ueda City. The service is scheduled to end on March 31, 2022. In the future, starting from April 2022, the system is planned to be introduced to the "Town Sneaker" bus operated by Alpico Kotsu in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, raising expectations for improved convenience for local residents and tourists.
The QR codes available for use include post-payment methods such as various electronic payments like PayPay and d payment, as well as credit cards for immediate payment. It also supports pre-payment methods such as commuter passes, prepaid tickets, and student and disability discounts. For those who cannot use the app, QR codes printed on paper media can also be used. The system was adopted as a payment tool for the Ueda City Consumption Promotion Support Project [Phase 3], "Ganbaro Ueda! Up to 20% Discount Campaign" (ended on March 6, 2022), and was used by approximately 60,000 people. The campaign distributed a total of 10,000 yen worth of discount tickets to app users nationwide, allowing them to receive up to 20% off their purchases at over 840 participating stores in Ueda City.
To register for the app, users need to provide their phone number for identity verification and their date of birth for fare settings. After registration, they can start using the app immediately. To use the app, simply launch it and scan the desired QR code at the boarding or alighting point of the vehicle. After alighting, please settle the fare using the app's payment screen.
For electronic payments, please proceed to the payment screen on the app after alighting. Various electronic payment methods and credit cards are supported. Please make sure to have the electronic payment app prepared on your smartphone in advance. The current electronic payment support status includes brands such as "PayPay," "d payment," "au Pay," "Merpay," "LINE Pay," "WeChat Pay," "Google Pay," and "Apple Pay." Commuter passes, prepaid tickets, and other tickets issued by the transportation company can also be used. In this case, the settlement will be automatically processed, so no operation is required. Please note that the available ticket types may vary depending on the transportation company. For details, please contact the respective transportation company.
The app allows users to view their usage history, including the date and time of use, section, fare, and payment method. It also provides information on the expiration date of commuter passes, remaining number of prepaid tickets, and prepaid balance. In the event of a device change or phone number change, users can transfer their current user information by issuing a transfer key in advance.
