The Contactless e-Channel Mobile Application is designed to help eligible Hong Kong residents enroll in the Contactless e-Channel Service. Once enrolled, residents can use their personal mobile phones to generate an encrypted e-Channel QR code, which allows them to enter the contactless e-Channels. Inside these channels, residents can simply look at the camera from a marked location to undergo facial verification and complete the immigration clearance process. The use of shared equipment, such as fingerprint scanners, is not necessary, making the process faster, more convenient, and hygienic.
To enroll in the Contactless e-Channel Service, residents need to download and install the contactless e-Channel mobile application and the "智方便 iAM Smart" app on their mobile devices with biometric authentication functions enabled. They then need to register and activate "iAM Smart" before opening the contactless e-Channel mobile application and selecting the enrollment option. After reading the statement and submitting the application, residents will undergo identity verification via "iAM Smart." Upon successful verification, they can complete the enrollment process by performing mobile phone built-in biometric authentication. Once all these steps are completed, residents can generate an e-Channel QR code for immigration clearance through the contactless e-Channels.
It is important to note that residents aged 11 to 17 will require the consent of their parent or guardian to enroll in the Contactless e-Channel Service. Additionally, using the Immigration Department Mobile Application may incur data transmission fees for mobile devices. Therefore, residents are advised to keep track of their data usage from time to time.
