AirGuard is an app that provides anti-tracking protection by periodically scanning your surroundings for potential tracking devices like AirTags or other Find My devices. Without tracking warnings, anyone could try to track your behavior by placing an AirTag in your belongings. With AirGuard, you can easily locate and play a sound on AirTags, as well as view the locations where the device has tracked you. All location data is kept on your device and never leaves it. The app only sends you a notification if a tracker is detected multiple times and the locations have changed.
AirGuard works by using Bluetooth scans on your Android phone to find AirTags and Find My trackers. When a tracker is detected multiple times and the locations have changed, the app sends you a notification. If the tracker is an AirTag, you can play a sound to find it. All the information is processed locally on your device, ensuring that your private information like location and tracker IDs never leave your device. AirGuard is developed by the Technical University of Darmstadt in Germany as part of a scientific research project from the Secure Mobile Networking Lab. The app does not contain ads or in-app purchases and will not be monetized in any way.
